EXECUTIVE DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF AREA B OF PROGETTO MANIFATTURA GREEN INNOVATION FACTORY

A tender for the construction drawings and construction of new light-industrial buildings for Progetto Manifattura is now open for bids. The buildings will replace recently demolished buildings.

The project – based on the architectural design of architect Kengo Kuma – will create 25,000 square meters of space for incubating companies. The new buildings will have a modular design that can adapt to different kinds of companies. Among the many interesting features of the project are: an urban design that integrates with the surrounding landscape, the use of wood in building structures, a green-roof designed to be used as a public park, high efficiency systems that rely on renewable energy, and a plan for sustainable transportation. The entire complex has been designed to reach LEED Platinum® certification, one of the highest standards of environmental certification.

Architect Stefano Sani coordinated the work group that prepared the project design. The group was comprised of members from the autonomous Province of Trento’s public works agency (Agenzia provinciale per le opera pubbliche) and Progetto Manifattura. A team of professionals from around the province also assisted the group.

The estimated project cost of design and construction is €54,538,490, of which €48,561,000 come from the national fund for development and cohesion (Fondi Sviluppo e Coesione).

The project will carry out a large part of the repurposing of the site of a former state tobacco factory. The new buildings will add significantly to the operating space that Progetto Manifattura already made available through the remodeling of historic buildings.
